Jennifer Lynn Connelly was born on December 12, 1970, in the Catskill Mountains of New York. She spent her childhood in Brooklyn Heights, close to the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan. In Brooklyn Heights, Jennifer attended Saint Ann's school from the first through twelfth-grade. Jennifer's father, Gerard, worked in the Garment Industry. Her mother, Eilee, was an antique's dealer. When Jennifer was 10 years old, a friend of the family (an advertising executive) suggested that Jennifer's parents take her to a modeling audition. She quickly obtained representation from the famous and prestigious Ford Agency and was soon in high demand as a model. Soon after this she made her appearance in newspapers, magazines and television commercials. It wasn't long before young Jennifer caught the eye of several casting directors, one of whom introduced her to Sergio Leone. Leone was searching for a young girl to dance in his gangster epic, Once upon a Time in America (starring Robert De Niro). She spent her 12th birthday on the set of this film in Rome. She subsequently appeared in the Dario Argento film "Phenomena (a.k.a. Creepers)". She then went on to star in the highly touted George Lucas-Jim Henson collaboration "Labyrinth." Please see the Filmography section below for a chronological listing of her films. In the mid-eighties, she released a single in Japan called "Monologue of Love" in which she sings a charming little song in Japanese with semi classical instruments arrangement. The B-side of the single is entitled "Message Of Love" which is an interview with music in the background. She seemed to cause quite a stir in Japan with TV Commercials, Magazine cover shots, and appearances in multiple advertisements. Jennifer enrolled at Yale University, and after 2 years transferred to Stanford in Northern California. After 1 quarter however, she left to continue acting. She is the single mother of one, Kai (his father is Connelly's ex-boyfriend, photographer David Dugan who she met while rock-climbing.) Kai was born in the summer of 1997. Jennifer currently lives in New York City. In January 2002, she won a Golden Globe award for best supporting actress in "A Beautiful Mind". Jennifer won an Oscar in March 2002 for best supporting actress in "A Beautiful Mind". Congratulations Jennifer!
