Wreck-Gar AFA 85

This is the first AFA graded Wreck-Gar (motorcycle) that I have seen. The bidding ended on 6/2 with the final high bid of $585.00.

Although this classic transforming motorcycle is cool, I like the new Arcee better from the latest Transformer movie line of figures.

AFA Prowl and Jazz

Same seller, two different classic Transformers. See that Prowl over there? That is the sweetest one you will ever see. That is an AFA 90! Yes, 90! The seller pulled it before the end of the auction. I am sure that he was made an offer he couldn't refuse.

Next up is a sweet AFA 85 Jazz that with a final bid of $1385.

Tomorrow, the new Transformers movie toys are to be released. I will be at Target in the morning to pick up a Target exclusive Optimus.

Minty Fresh G1 Smokescreen & AFA 85 Hound

A nice G1 Smokescreen went to the high bidder for $810 on May 6,2007.

Also a nice AFA 85 Hound was recently sold for $480 with subgrades of 85-85-90.

The movie Transformers are being released, saw the first batch of them at Target on Saturday (5/5).

G1 Broadside & AFA 90 Ultra Magnus

Here is an Autobot Triple Changer that you don't come across too often. Transformers from Aircraft Carrier to Jet to Robot. I don't like the unrealistic scale of that transformation, but O.K.! I also don't care for the thrashed box, but still interesting to check out. Sold for $212.01 on 4/3/07.

Next up was a SWEET Ultra Magnus AFA 90 being auctioned from a seller in Germany. Nice!!! Sold for $664 + $70 shipping/handling.

AFA 85 Megatron & Stephen King's Dark Tower Gunslinger Born Comics

An eBay action ended on March 25th for an AFA 85 Megatron (B-80, W-85, F-90). The reserve was not met with the high bidder at $3,300. This one still had the original price sticker on it...it is hard to see but it looks like it may have been marked down to $14.00 from back in the day.

On 9111gabriel's description he wrote, "The only Megatron to ever sell on Ebay that graded higher than this one was an AFA-90, that was dealt to a very well known collector for $12,000.00."

The new Stephen King Dark Tower comics are really cool. Each cover has two variants. This collection of issues 1 & 2 sold on eBay this week for $177.50. The 3rd book of 7 series comes out next week.

AFA 85 Dirge and Local MIB Optimus Prime

Although Dirge is my least favorite of the Transformer jets, I still can appreciate such a fine example such as this one. This one closed on eBay yesterday for $523.00.

I really wanted this Optimus. Although it was not MISB, nor AFA certified, it was in SWEET condition. Also, the seller lived in the same town as I do. However, I was overbid. Closing bid was $305.00. This one still had the original Toys R' Us sticker on it...it was originally $29.97.

Awesome AFA Examples of Construction Giftset and Metroplex

Two rare and killer Transformers sold on eBay this week, both AFA 85 examples.

The first was a sweet Construction Giftset that sold for $2,903.

The second was a Metroplex that sold for $1,625.

Both very fine examples of what should be in MY collection. = )

C-ya!

What a Difference a Day Makes

Yesterday I was riding around Frisco, Texas on my motorcycle in jeans and a T-shirt as the sun beat down on my face in 77-degree weather. I saw "the storm" (i.e., cold front from Canada) coming from the northwest at about 6:00 PM last evening. The temperature has dropped to 27 degrees (feels like 13 degrees) in less than 24 hours. It is going to get even colder tonight. I have never experienced a 50+ degree drop in temperature in such a short time span in my life! I'm glad I was able to take the bikes out one last time before the weather turned from sun to sleet. My endless summer has finally ended!

The Haunting (1963)

Hello all. I rented a few movies over the weekend and only one there is only one that I wanted to recommend to my readers. I rented An American Haunting (2006), Rest Stop (2006), and The Haunting (1963). The winner is the black and white movie, The Haunting. Even though The Haunting was released 43 years ago, it blows the new releases out of the water. To top it off, it is rated G! The G rated movie is more intense in psychological terror than two "unrated" movies. Actually, the movie is actually quite sexual in nature as well with numerous suggestive lines, even between two women! Rated G?????

So, If you see the the DVD shown to your left at your video store, pick it up and take it to the rental counter or immediately add to your Netflix list. Be prepared for 112 minutes of true entertainment. At the end of this movie I said to myself, "that was a really good movie. I really enjoyed that." With the other two movies, I felt guilty for wasting precious hours of my life (and no, I am not Catholic).

Today, the house is now a hotel located in the Warwickshire countryside in England. Click here for the details on the hotel. Be sure to check out the rooms. Very cool!

Sealed G1 Perceptor

A SWEET Generation 1 Perceptor was sold for $910.00 yesterday on eBay. Considering the condition of this piece, someone scored a really good deal. I mean look at this thing. It is one of the flawless/beautiful non-AFA pieces I have seen!

Halloween

The clock rolled back an hour today. What did you do with your extra hour? I decided to post production photographs from the movie Halloween on my site. I watch it once every year within a few days of the holiday. Today was the day. Watched the restored DVD version. Excellent.
It was a perfect day here in Dallas today. I went mountain bike riding with Brent and Cela at the Greenbelt trail from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M.. It was beautiful ride.

Poltergeist Filming Locations: Simi Valley and Agoura Hills

The house used as the Freeling family home, where most of the action took place in Steven Spielberg's (Tobe Hooper directed) classic 1982 horror/thriller "Poltergeist," is actually located in Simi Valley, California, just northwest of Los Angeles. The address of the house is:

4267 Roxbury Street

Although the house used as the exterior of the Feeling's home in the movie "Poltergeist" is located in Simi Valley, most of the neighborhood shots were filmed in the city of Agoura Hills, CA. The streets seen in the opening of the movie are Kanan Road (which is the road seen with the center divider and a single car driving on each side).

Shadycreek Drive (shown in the first neighborhood scene and the scene where a red car is driving down it), Rustling Oaks Drive (where the large oak tree in the middle of the street is), and Calmfield Avenue, Calabria Drive and Gleam Court (seen in a couple of shots just before and after the guy heads out of the cul-de-sac on his bike carrying the beer). After that, the camera cuts to the neighborhood in Simi Valley where the house is located.

Click here to see a map

You can get to this Agoura Hills neighborhood by exiting Kanan Road from the 101 Freeway and turning north (right if coming from Los Angeles or left if coming from Thousand Oaks.) Then make a right turn (east) on Idle Drive and follow the map to the various locations. As the script called for, this neighborhood was very new at the time "Poltergeist" was filmed (1981) and has "grown up" quite a bit over the past 25 years.

There are rumors that graves of the Chumash Indian tribe that inhabited this area in the 1800's were actually excavated and relocated to what is now Chumash Park in Thousand Oaks in order to build homes here.

Thank you to http://www.seeing-stars.com for the majority of the location information.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch

Your host at the "Silver Shamrock Factory" - Loleta, California - Early 1990s

Halloween III: Season of the Witch is my absolute favorite movie. In fact, it was the first VHS video tape that I ever purchased in 1986 and I kept it even in the age of DVD!

Recently, the grocery store "featured" in the movie went up for sale and was sold in Loleta, California. Click here to check it out. It would have my dream to have purchased the store and convert a section of it into a Halloween III museum.

Not everyone likes this movie, the most critical and amusing review on the Internet was found here.

In related news, a huge fan of the movie "A Christmas Story" (1984) bought the house that the movie was filmed in and is restoring it to how it looked in the movie. He also bought the house across the street and is turning it into a museum for the movie. Read about it here.

A few select screenshots from Halloween III: Season of the Witch provided below for your entertainment. Bye the bye, the actress is Stacey Nelkin.

Laika Animation Studios

There was an article in the news back in June about Laika Studios that I have printed out and posted at my desk at work. Laika is the studio that I am most interested in working for, specifically in their stop-motion animation department. Not only are they poised to be the next hot studio, they are located in Portland, Oregon. Oregon is my #1 choice for where I would like to live and work. It would truly be a dream come true to work there and with this studio. Here is a copy of the article:

Nikes Knight buys land for Laika animation studio
By Sheigh Crabtree
June 18, 2006

Nike cofounder and chairman Phil Knight has purchased 30 acres of land south of Portland, Ore., to house a state-of-the-art campus for his burgeoning computer animation studio.

The future site, set to open in 2008, will house Laika Entertainment and its growing roster of talent and productions.

"Just as we anticipate our films will look like no other before them, so too will this campus make a bold and distinct architectural statement," Knight said in a statement.

The first phase of campus construction will include buildings dedicated to computer animation, stop-motion animation and corporate services including reception, executive offices, conference rooms, fitness center, cafeteria and theater.

Groundbreaking is planned for early next year, and an architectural firm and construction company will be announced shortly.

"This facility will be sought-after destination for the highest caliber of animation talent in the world," Laika CEO David Wahl said.

Laika Entertainment has two animated feature films in production under the supervision of Henry Selick. It was a production entity on his Oscar-nominated animated film "Tim Burton's Corpse Bride."

Selick's latest feature, "Coraline," is based on the international best-selling children's novel by Neil Gaiman. Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, and the comedy duo of French & Saunders lead the voice cast. It will be distributed through Focus Features.

The second feature, "Jack & Ben's Animated Adventure," set in the animal kingdom, is being directed by animator and writer Jorgen Klubien.

In addition, Laika recently acquired the film rights to one of the U.K.'s current best-selling children's novels, writer-illustrator Alan Snow's "Here Be Monsters," and will develop it as an animated feature film. Reuters/Hollywood Reporter.

Beautiful AFA 85 Megatron Available on eBay

New listing for an AFA 85 G1 Megatron available on eBay with a Buy it Now price of $5,000.00. I am surprised it was graded an 85 since it has multiple price stickers on it, but this is still about as sweet as it gets.

Nightmare on Elm Street House For Sale

The House featured in Nightmare on Elm Street is up for sale!. Click here to view the Realtor's listing. Below is a copy of the article from Cinematical.com:

For Sale: Nightmare on Elm Street House
By: Christopher Campbell

I bet there are some real hardcore fans of A Nightmare on Elm Street who bought a house on Elm Street in their own town just to have that association. But if they wanted to be a REAL hardcore fan, they'd get a place on N. Genesee Avenue. More specifically, they'd get the place at 1428 N. Genesee Avenue in Los Angeles. For those of us who don't know everything Freddy Krueger, that address is the location of the house used in the Nightmare films, otherwise known as "Nancy's house." It has 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a pool and a fireplace. And it is selling for just under $2 million.
The ad for the home says it's a bit of a fixer (must be all the damage from Freddy) but "with some work this could be your Family Dream House." Right. Because the kids are really going to love living there. Of course, there are some twisted people out there, and I can envision a fan-couple moving in with their young daughters, who they make play jump rope on the front walkway.

Transformers G1 Action Figures

There are two Transformer figures (AFA Graded) that I have left on my wish list, Optimus Prime and Soundwave. Unfortunately for me, these are the two most in demand action figures for collectors.

Optimus Prime is probably the second most sought-after G1 (Generation One) figure. The Optimus Prime figure shown to the right is an AFA 85 that a legitimate bidder outbid 26 other bidders to win on eBay yesterday for $3,552.

I would say that most sought-after figure is Soundwave. The AFA 90 Soundwave shown to the right sold late year sold for $5,100 to a legitimate bidder also on eBay.

Speculation among most collectors is that interest in Transformers will be renewed when the Transfomers movie comes out next July. Sellers have been anticipating prices to skyrocket after the release of the movie.

DVD Collection

I took a photograph of my DVD collection today and wanted to share it with my readers. In addition to having all of my favorite movies, I tried to create a diverse library where no matter what genre preference a person has, they could find something in my library to watch if they were at my house.

I have been doing a lot more renting than buying these days in anticipation of the new DVD format. The two formats (HD-DVD and Blu-ray) are still battling it out so I am not sure which of the players I will eventually buy. The new Sony PS3 will play Blu-Ray discs, so I may use that player for Blu-ray and then purchase a HD-DVD player. Anyway, here is an article if you are interested in reading more about the format war.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare

If you have recently watched A Nightmare on Elm Street and enjoyed it (hopefully you rented it after reading my August 12, 2006 entry) you must check out Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994). This movie is like no horror movie you have ever seen. It is a total MF (other MF movies I can recommend are Dreamcatchers (2003) though the critics didn't like it but I did, and Donnie Darko (2001).) It is essential that you have seen A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) prior to watching this movie to pick up on all of the cross-references. This movie is a must-see horror movie for anyone even remotely interested in the A Nightmare on Elm Street series.

I became downright disoriented while watching this movie because of familiar characters playing unfamiliar roles (you will see what I mean when you watch it, but I don't want to to spoil the plot for you.) The footage of the Northridge earthquake of 1994 also added to my disorientation considering I was living about 25 miles from the epicenter at the time of the earthquake. Even though it has been 12 years now, I remember it well and the footage is very unsettling. Anyway, check out the movie...even the critics liked it!

Here are a few pictures of Heather Langenkamp from the Wes Craven's New Nightmare : Pic1 Pic2 Pic3 Pic4 Pic5

Oh, and avoid Freddy vs. Jason (2004) at all costs. It's complete crap.

John Carpenter's Original Negatives for Halloween Found!

Here is an amazing article that I wanted to share with my readers. The find includes 45,000 feet of unused footage and may include the original ending where Michael Myers is killed...permanently! Here is the article:

Original Halloween Negatives Exhumed!

Posted Aug 30th 2006 5:31PM by Scott Weinberg

Between the one with the lenticular cover and the "Network TV" version, I've simply lost count of how many different Halloween DVDs Anchor Bay has released in my lifetime. (I'll guess eight, and that's not including the feature-length Halloween documentary that recently got its very own DVD release instead of being packaged as Disc 2 in a normal Special Edition.) Me, I own one copy of John Carpenter's unquestionable classic (this version, I think), and I've never really felt the urge to invest in any of the subsequent releases.

But I may have to change that tune pretty soon.

Don May Jr., the horror-lovin' DVD producer who runs Synapse Films, recently let Fangoria know about a virtual Holy Grail of Horrordom: "What we've got is pretty much all the unused original camera negative from John Carpenter's original Halloween," is what May had to say, and to imply that the guy is very excited about the treasure trove would be an understatement on par with "Dr. Loomis is mildly obsessed with Michael Myers." What does this mean to you and me? It means we just might get to see an all-kinda-new and unseen-footage-laden version of Carpenter's classic, complete with new "clothesline scene" and an alternate (unused) ending. Mr. May also found a box of negatives that has "1981" scrawled on it, which is a little strange since Halloween was shot in 1978! The assumption is that this box may contain materials shot exclusively for Halloween's network TV premiere! Oooh, it's all so geekily exciting!

That said, don't expect anything to come of this discovery for quite a while. May's been in contact with original Halloween editor Tommy Lee Wallace and film preservationist Robert Harris, and everyone seems pretty darn excited about the find. No word yet on the state of the overworked salivary glands over at Anchor Bay.

The article above was pulled from http://www.cinematical.com/2006/08/30/original-halloween-negatives-exhumed/

Celebrities on Motorcycles

I came across a few random pictures of celebrities on bikes. Celebrities promote motorcycling simply by being seen on them, and I think that is cool! Here are few motorcycle shots of Steven King and Tom Cruise. The black & white photo is of Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis riding a motorcycle in Oceanside during a scene from Top Gun in 1986.

Horror News

A few things, first of all saw the Descent and it more than decent (I kept e-mailing others to see the Decent - ha ha!). The movie got great reviews from the critics and positive word of mouth spread its seed across the nation. It's a salad of Deliverance, Alien, with a little Blair Witch Project sprinkled on top. The last scene was a disappointment (that's what she said), but I thoroughly enjoyed the rest.

Secondly, came across a "killer" web site with filming location pictures for John Carpenter's The Fog. Click here to check it out. I have always appreciated this movie for the amazing beautiful outdoor scenery captured with an anamorphic widescreen Panavision camera. My saying of the day is, "Take me away to Bodega Bay".

Speaking of John Carpenter there is some big new for fan of his work! It has also been announced that Robert Cummings (a.k.a. Rob Zombie) is going to be directing a new version of one of the most of the most respected horror movies of all time, Halloween (1978). The new Halloween movie has a scheduled release date of October 2007. Rob has stated that this film would not be a copycat of any prior "Halloween" flicks. During an interview with MTV, Rob said the film will be "a bit of a prequel and a remake, combined." The movie will be set between the events of Halloween and Halloween II. The focus will be on Myers' evolution into a serial killer. It is not going to be Halloween 9 as some web sites have reported.

I am personally very excited that Rob is going to be directing this movie. He is a huge horror movie fan, and I think he will do the movie justice. I thought his last movie, Devils Rejects (2005), is a true modern horror classic.

Snakes on A Plane

These are some of the coolest promotions ever! At the official Snakes on a Plane web site, you can fill out a form to have "Samuel L. Jackson" call a friend or loved one via telephone! You select options from drop-down lists that you choose options to customize the conversation. Completing the form is quick and easy and there is no need to sign up for a password or any of that shite. The safety Instructions are also pretty cool (they remind me of the Safety Instructions from Fight Club).

Not expecting too much from the movie itself considering New Line isn't allowing critics to screen the movie prior to release.

Home Arcade Completed, Korn Concert Wrap Up, A Nightmare on Elm Street III

My home arcade is finally complete! I put my 25th Anniversary Pac Man into place this week. It arrived in a huge crate from West Virginia. The game features PAC-Man, Ms. PAC-man, and my favorite arcade game Galaga. PAC-man was the first video game that I ever put a quarter into as a kid, so it is very nostalgic experience for me to play. This game joins my Tee'd Off pinball machine, Dragon's Lair II laser-disc arcade game, and evil Tiki statue.
The Korn concert last Saturday in Dallas was awesome with 20,000 people in attendance. I had a great view from the pit, up against the front guard rail. The highlight of the evening was after the final song, "Blind" (one of my favorite songs from Korn). Jonathan Davis (lead singer of Korn) threw his wristband into the crowd. My basketball rebound skills came in handy as I leaped into the air with my arm and fingers stretched to the max! I felt the wristband make contact with my hand. I immediately hid it within my fist in fear of being mobbed. These people were our for anything: drum sticks, guitar picks, or blood!!

If you have never explored the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and were considering checking them out, I can only recommend two of them. The first DVD that I would recommend viewing is A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Dream Warriors (1987). This is an above-average fantasy/horror movie with a lot of creative effects, great characters, and interesting situations. The movie stars Patricia Arquette (Pic 1 Pic 2). The beautiful Heather Langenkamp also returns from the original movie. Soundtrack features a couple of tunes from the 1980s hair band Dokken.

Even though the original A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) is a good horror flick and considered a "classic", it is not as good as the third. However, it is worth the rental fee to check out. This movie contain one of the most famous scenes in all of horror, the bathtub scene with Freddy's glove rising out of Nancy's bathtub. This is also Johnny Depp's first movie.

Here are a couple more screen captures of Heather (Pic 1 Pic 2).

For those of you interested in visiting the famous A Nightmare on Elm Street house, it is located at:

1428 Genesee Avenue Hollywood, CA

Note: If you listen to the commentary on the DVD, Wes Craven refuses to give up the location of the house, simply saying it is located in "Los Angeles".

Speaking of filming locations, there is a g reat web site dedicated to the locations of the greatest horror movie ever filmed, Halloween (1978). The locations are in and around Los Angeles. Click here to check it out.

Maiden, Korn, and The Transformers

Iron Maiden is my all-time favorite band and I am excited about their upcoming release entitled 'A Matter of Life and Death'. The new "album" will be released in early September of this year.

Maiden also has has a world-tour scheduled for this year. Unfortunately, Maiden will not be performing here in Texas. I was excited with the possibility that they might play here in Frisco at Pizza Hut Park.

Pizza Hut Park is a great new venue in the Dallas Area. I was there last month for Edgefest 15 (Staind, Seether) and it was a great complex to see a concert (and it is less than three miles away from my house).

To see the latest Iron Maiden video for the song 'The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg' from the 'A Matter of Life and Death' album, click here. This video was released just over a week ago and is quite awesome.

Even though I will miss out on Maiden, I will be at the Korn show here in Dallas (at Smirnoff Music Center) on August 5th.. I am very excited about being being so close to the stage (I have pit tickets) for another of my all-time favorite bands.

Speaking of cool shite, I wanted to include some photographs for The Transformers movie coming out in July of 2007. These are rather hard to find on the Internet right now (i.e., pulled), so enjoy!

Bombardier Learjet 500 IndyCar Race

I was extremely excited to attend my first IndyCar race, the Bombardier Learjet 500! The Texas race is also the only night race of the Indy series. The race was held at the massive Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday evening. This dedicated racing complex can hold 212,585 people and sits on 1,600 acres. Before the race started, three F-16 jets from Fort Smith flew in formation during the Star Spangled Banner. The photo to the left was taken about three hours before the race started.

The glowing full-moon was the perfect backdrop for this amazing evening. I sat in the front row of the grandstands along the first straight; this is the closest a spectator can get to the cars and the track. The higher seats are considered ideal by some because you have a better view of the entire track. In my opinion, the seats towards the front & slightly off-center of the track are best because you are so close the action and can watch the huge television screens for any areas of the track where you don't have a perfect view. The Indy cars fly by you at unbelievable speeds, close to 230 MPH. This is even faster than Formula 1 cars, which are considered the most technologically advanced cars in the world.

I can see how someone could become obsessed with auto racing, even if you are just a spectator and never even touch a race car. The amplified bee-like buzz of the engines around the track penetrates your earplugs. The blast of decibels that hit your body as the cars approach and pass in front of you is very addicting. It's very exciting and intense experience. I later found out that this was the third fastest race in Indy history.

The King

I came across this killer illustration from Noma Bar of Stephen King that I wanted to share. Although I have only read a few of Stephen's books, I highly respect his creativity, passion, and dedication to his craft. His tireless productivity is definitely an inspiration to me. He has shown me what is possible in a creative field. I was curious enough about his life to visit his hometown of Bangor, Maine and was able to locate his home for a photograph back in 2002.

Speaking of creativity, while I was in California earlier this month, I took some photographs of the Fry's Electronics store in Burbank that has a 1950s Sci-Fi theme. Be sure to visit my Inspiration page to view the photographs.

Eva Green & Miami Vice the Movie

Some movie news for ya':

The June/July 2006 issue of Giant magazine features an article on the stunning Eva Green, who will appear in the next James Bond film Casino Royal. The article on page 38 of the magazine mentions that the new movie will be coming out this fall. This movie will also introduce us to Daniel Craig (Munich) as James Bond.

In other movie news, the new Miami Vice movie shows promise. I am thrilled that Michael Mann (director and producer of the original television series) wrote, produced and directed this movie.

I noticed the new movie poster for the first time on Saturday (5/13) after a showing of Mission Impossible 3 at the Edwards 18 in San Marcos, California. Click here to view the trailer. The movie is scheduled for release on July 28th, 2006. Speaking of MIP3, I read in a magazine article (GQ at the Burbank airport) that Tom Cruise has 8 motorcycles. Cool, I didn't realize that he was so into motorcycles.

Also recently purchased the Hitchock Masterpiece Collection on DVD. Simply awesome.

Magnum, P.I., the Movie

My all-time favorite show is Magnum, P.I.. There were a total of 162 episodes that aired from December 1980 to May 1988. For over 10 years there has been rumors that a Magnum, P.I. movie script in development, but the project has never been produced. Click here for an article about the movie from 1992! Recent information on the internet (including Variety, click here to read the article) suggests that the project is now a go! My note to Hollywood: I don't care how old the original actors are, bring them all back together with a killer script and put out a brilliant movie. Yes, I am saying to bring back Tom Selleck (age 61) as Thomas Sullivan Magnum III, John Hillerman (age 73) as Jonathan Quayle Higgins III, Roger Earl Mosley (age 67) as Theodore "T.C." Calvin and Larry Manetti (age 58) as Orville "Rick" Wright.

However, I seriously doubt that this is is going to happen. The upsetting rumor is that this movie is going to be directed by the novice director, Rawson Marshall Thurber. If this is the case, someone please put a Colt 1911A1 to my head and pull the trigger. For those of you who are not familiar with Thurber, he was the director of the useless 2004 "comedy" Dodgeball. The

January 23, 2006 Variety article does mention that Donald Bellisario and Glen Larson (the original co-creators) are going to be producers for the movie. I was excited to hear that they will be invloved in the movie.

Note to script writer(s): In addition to the plot, we want to know what the characters have been up to since 1988 and where they are in life today. This is what the fans really want to see and experience. The original writers, at a minimum, should also be brought in to contribute their thoughts and ideas to the script. Don't even go the Dukes Of Hazard route or we (the fans) will disregard it. Magnum P.I. was a intelligent, insightful, thought provoking, high-quality television show that deserves major respect. Do not ruin the show's integrity.

Oh, Bye the Bye, Click here for some some great photographs of the "Robin Masters' Estate" taken from an airplane in October 2002.

FYI: The photographs in this BLOG entry were scanned from my personal archieves.

Material Items

Over the last 7 years, I have purchased over 500 items on eBay. In fact, I have visited eBay just about everyday since 1999 in search of various material items. There are very specific things, in random categories, that have have "spoken to me" throughout my life. I tend to form a strong bond, or appreciation, with a particular item and I feel a desire to own it. In addition to the item itself, the item's condition is always a huge consideration for any piece that I bring into my collection. I normally require that items are in 100% original and mint condition. The links in the paragraph below are photographs of my actual collection.

My collection includes mint condition Generation 1(1984,1985) Transformers action figures (my favorites being Blitzwing, and Starscream), vintage video game systems (Atari with games, Colecovision with games, Vectrex, and arcade machines), motorcycles, magazines (I have every single edition of Juxtapoz, my favorite magazine), LPs, DVDs, Zippo lighters, posters, motorcycle-related items (especially Moto Guzzi), Jennifer Connelly (my favorite actress) related memorabilia, original autographs, die-cast car and motorcycle models, as well as various toys, action figures, and books and various other items from the 1970s and 1980s.

Many times tracking down specific items has been as much of an obsession as a hobby. For years, I have been keeping track of every material item that I am searching for on a Word document that I named "The List". The document contains all of the items that I am seeking obtain and place into my personal collection. It once contained over a hundred items (some of them incredibly rare), but I am now down to three final items. I know that these items will become available in the condition I am looking for, it is just a matter of time. Here at the final three:

1. Transformers Optimus Prime G1 - MISB - AFA 85+ certified .
2. Transformers Soundwave G1 - MISB - AFA 85+ certified. On 11/05 an AFA 90 went for $5,100.00.
3. Guess promotional poster that I saw in Tucson, Arizona mall This item was a department store promotional display poster from around 2000/2001. The picture shown on the link above may have been the photograph on the poster. Here are a couple of other images of Megan: Megan01 Megan02 Megan03 Megan04 Megan05

If you have any of the items above, please contact me.

Movie Recommendation - Donnie Darko Director's Cut

Even though this movie came out five years ago, it completely slipped past me as it did for many people. A huge factor for this was that the movie was released about a month after 9/11. I had looked at the DVD at he video store in the past out of curiosity, but I didn't particularly like the title, was unimpressed with the description, and I didn't like the DVD packaging. Erik recommended that I check it out, and he really came through for me on this one. This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. If you are into science fiction with a twist (e.g., The Twilight Zone) or are open to something for something a "little" different and you haven't seen this movie, stop what you are doing and go rent it...now! Don't believe me that it's that good? Read more about it here.

Other movies that I highly recommend are The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (1966), North By Northwest (1959), and The Insider (1999).

My Top 5 eBay Regrets

There are times that you just don't make the right decision when collecting. Maybe you overlook the limited availability of an item, or you are not ready to commit to a certain price level. Then you look back at your decision in disgust. Then you torment yourself by repeating "I blew it" over and over until you are sick. I have had a lot of really positive stories as well, but I now need to cleanse my soul. This is the dark side of collecting. Here are my top five "I should have, I would have, I could have" eBay regrets (excuse me while I wipe away the tears):

By the way - The pictures are of the actual auction items that I am referencing.

Regret Number 1
1999 Moto Guzzi Centauro Motorcycle

This was years after production had ceased. I had the chance to own one of the finest examples of the Centauro on the planet (with exception to the example of the bike at the Moto Guzzi factory at the Mandello del Lario in Italy). I called the shop in NY that was selling this and all of my questions were answered with satisfaction. This pristine bike only had 500 miles on it! The dealership also even placed protective covering on the exhaust so it wouldn't get scratched by customers. At the time this auction took place I was in college and only working part time and got cold-feet. I ended up buying a much less impressive copy of the same bike years down the line for the same dollar amount. Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch. This one hurt, BIG time. I completely blew it.

Guzzi01 Guzzi02 Guzzi03 Guzzi04 Guzzi05 Guzzi06 Guzzi07 Guzzi08 Guzzi09

Regret Number 2
Jennifer Connelly worn dress from Mulhulland Falls

I remember asking myself, what would I do with a Jennifer Connelly dress anyway? Still a good point! However, maybe I should have looked at it as an investment in a one-of-a kind piece of Hollywood history from the most beautiful and talented actress on the planet. Not to mention an unbelievable deal at the auction closing price of around $300! This item was on eBay back in early 2000 before the site really exploded to its huge number of users today (over 100 million people worldwide have registered to date). How much more do you think this dress would go for this Oscar-winning actress today? I blew it.

Regret Number 3
G1 Optimus Prime - Condition 9.5+

This is the sweetest Optimus that I have ever seen on eBay. The auction had ended at $1,150 back in 1994. The price has at least doubled for a figure of this quality since then. Look at the color of the box, it is as close to perfection as you get. I see no flaws. Unopened, and untouched perfection. Remember that is a 25+ year old action figure, this looks like it just came out of the Hasbro factory. One will come up again eventually of this quality, but it may take years of waiting and the price will be at double or triple the amount. However, I would never buy a figure in today's market without it being graded by the AFA (Action Figure Authority). This particular one was not AFA graded.

Regret Number 4
184 Jennifer Connelly Japanese Magazine Clippings

This amazing collection would be extremely difficult, expensive, and time consuming to reproduce. I could have had the ultimate collection in one swoop. These Japanese magazines are rather rare and go for about $20+ a piece. Even thought the auction ended at $365, I still feel I cheapened out because I really wanted these magazine covers to add this to my Jennifer collection. This is a rather recent auction, too (December 2005). I should have learned by now! The Regret, the regret!

School's Out

Today was the last day of my sculpture class at CCCCD. The class was taught by a local artist, Valeriya Veron. She told me a story today that really impacted me and I wanted to share it with my readers. The story was about of one of her former students who was a 90-year old man with extremely thick glasses and had eyes out of alignment. Valeriya was saying that the man was extremely quiet during the entire series of continuing education classes. One day towards the end of the final classes the students are reviewing sculpture books and the man makes the comment:

"There is so much beauty all around us. What have I been doing my entire life?"

Valeriya had some great comments today that really hit home. She mentioned that some artists choose to be poor so that they have the freedom to do what they love. In other words, giving up the BMW, and the big screen for freedom. We talked about how most in America (Valeriya is from Russia) do not exercise their freedom, how many commit themselves to self-imposed slavery. People just choose not to exercise their freedom by staying in a job they hate when they actually have the freedom to live out their dreams.

Enzo Ferrari Crash in Malibu

A Ferrari in the news? Yes! A red Enzo Ferrari (one of only 400 ever made and worth between $700k to $1 million) crashed on February 22 at 6:00 a.m. when it crested a hill going 120+ mph (some news reports stating 160+ mph) and slammed into a power pole. The accident took place in Malibu, California on Pacific Coast Highway (just north of Decker) . This was a hand-built car revered by many, including myself, as a work of art. Even though the accident happened 12 days ago, the photos still continue to be the #1 most viewed and #1 e-mailed photos on Yahoo! news.

Funny captions left by various people on the internet about the crashed Enzo Ferrari photos:

"If I find the other half do I earn $500,000?"
Beyond Bondo
"I guess you're wondering why I pulled you over. Your taillights are not working"
"I swear I wasn't speeding officer."
Halfway to Paradise.
"The bad news your Enzo Ferrari is totalled, and the good news I saved a bunch of money by switching to Geico."

American Chopper Funniest Moment

Eric's vote for funniest moment of the American Chopper series (to date):

To get the full comedic effect, you really have to watch the episode from the beginning to get the full build up of the situation. Pauly is having spacer trouble on the rear wheel of the Police Bike. Paul Senior starts bragging about how he and Rick got the front end of the bike done and they (Pauly and Cody) hadn't even gotten the rear wheel on yet. Pauly’s response was so funny (and I think I can see him smirk, but can't be 100% sure), and Senior's reaction is equally as funny. It's a really short moment from the show (only 12 seconds), but I found it to be so funny that I watched it over and over again. Senior gets burned so bad, and he deserves it for gloating!

Take the time to check it out to see if you agree! A classic Ameican Chopper moment!

Trailer Time

On a gloomy and bitter cold Saturday, I purchased my very first motorycle trailer. I am really happy about my 1996 5X8 Kendon trailer that I purchased from Morning Star Texas in Dallas. It is a one-bike trailer that I primarily purchased it to take my Centauro to Bike Week in Daytona Beach next month. I am really happy how well the trailer goes with my truck. In fact, the trailer's rims almost match my trucks's rims...how cool! Here are the pictures of my trailer that were posted on the Morning Star Texas web site:

Motorcycle Parts

I get all revved-up about new motorcycle parts (this is to inform those who didn't read through my Centauro parts page). There is something very special about going to the dealership and getting OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts. If you ever break or damage a part, you can get an exact replacement for your exact motorcycle model, make and year. Even down to the smallest washer or bolt! It is such a perfect and pure experience. I guess that I respect the organization of it all. It is just so cool that you can rebuild you bike piece by piece if you wanted...for a price. Now this is not true for all manufactures (e.g., Moto Guzzi), but it is true for the big dogs like Harley, Suzuki, and Honda. This is also not true for older models, there is a cut off point. But for my 1999 Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa and 2001 Suzuki SV 650, it works out perfect!

To the right are a couple of pictures of recent purchases for my bikes. The first is various oils and oil filters, the second picture is of my new Pit Bull bike stands used for maintenance.

DD Custom Cycle's Blue Azul

I came across this beautiful chopper last night and had to share it on my BLOG readers. This bike was built by DD Custom Cycle of Lake Villa, Illinois. If you are interested, it is currently on sale for $46,995 [Reduced]. This shop has some other cool bikes (be sure to check out Day Dreamer) in the Gallery section of their web site.

American Chopper

My friend Beth let me borrow the first season of American Chopper on DVD. There were a superabundance of impressive bikes that were worthy of commenting on. One bike that really blew me away (even though it was a non-OCC bike) was at the the The Rat's Hole motorcycle show during Daytona Bike Week 2003. I was completely blown away by this bike created by Freddy, Jr. Two years and $256,000 went into building this bike. Check the pictures here:

Another thing that blew me away was the Teutel's 70-foot Renegade two-level trailer with hydraulic lift. This is the sickest motorcycle trailer that I have ever seen. Check it: Trailer01 Trailer02 Trailer02

Mom

My mother is retiring later this after being an accomplished and respected teacher of Murrieta Elementary School for 26 years. Here is an online article about her from North Country Times online. Here is a scanned article about her from the Temecula newspaper, The Californian. My mother has given me a lifetime of love and encouragement. Thank you, Mom! Enjoy your well deserved retirement!

Stanley Kubrick's Masterpiece

I have seen the Shinning a couple of times over my lifetime. It is not until I have reached my current perspective in life that I can truly appreciate the depth of this movie. From Jack Nicholson's outstanding acting, to the attention of detail to each of the huge sets. The movie sets are some of the greatest in size and detail I have ever witnessed. I had always assumed that all of the interior shots of the hotel where filmed at the hotel itself. I didn't think that sets this large could possibility have been built, but they were! The Vivian Kubrick documentary (a DVD extra) shows us the sets built at Elstree Studios in the U.K. Anyway, I always thought that the hotel exterior was really spectacular as well. The hotel is the Timberline Lodge (a.k.a. The Overlook hotel in Kubrick's movie) located near Mount Hood, Oregon.

Anyway, if you have never seen this movie, or have not recently, I recommend that you rent or purchase this DVD. Spend some quality time with it, and with the bonus documentary. Oh, and make sure you pick up the 1980 Kubrick version, not the 1997 mini-series version (sorry, Mr. King).

My Rap on Rap

I grew up in the most interesting decades in our history, the 1980s. Can you argue with that statement? I didn't think so! The 1980s were interesting for a million reasons, but there is only one topic that I want to focus on today. One of my bragging rights being a teenager in the ancient 80s was great to see the birth and evolution of rap music. Even though I am a heavy metal/hard rocker at heart, I have always appreciated rap. I appreciate the flow of the music and the lyrics blending together, the creativity of the lyrics, and the bass shaking the world around you. I also appreciate and the hard edged, rebellious, nonconformist spirit, and the hardcore language .

Question: What was the most important rap single ever released?
Answer: "Walk this Way" from Run-D.M.C., the Raising Hell album, 1986.

The single, Walk this Way, featured the 1970s super group Aerosmith. The hybrid of rap and rock was the key in bringing rap to mainstream America in 1986. MTV couldn't have had the Walk this Way video in heavier rotation, or it would have been 24 Run-DMC TV. It seemed that overnight, Run-D.M.C. was ingrained in the culture our suburban town in Temecula, Caliifornia. It seemed that no matter where you were at, Run-D.M.C. was playing: from the school gym, to cars passing by, or on your own boombox. The discovery of Run-D.M.C. in the suburbs made us reach back in their catalog previous released such as King of Rock (1985), and Run-DMC (1984). The Walk this Way single also lead to Aerosmith making one of the most spectacular comebacks in the history of rock.

Another album that EVERYONE owned at our high school was LL Cool Js, BAD album from 1987. I remember the earlier LL album "Radio" album being around as well. I can remember the tender LL track I Need Love single being on the Top 8 at 8 on 102.7 KISS FM (top 40 station) in Los Angeles. My personal favorite track was I'm Bad.

I know that hardcore rap fans might not take The Beastie Boys very seriously, mostly because of their comedic lyrics. However, the Beastie Boys were crucial in bringing rap to the mainstream. EVERYONE in my high school also seemed to have a copy of the Licence to Ill album, also released in 1986. I mean EVERY SINGLE PERSON AT TVHS was playing a track off this album, especially Paul Revere. MTV played the Fight for Your Right (to Party) video non-stop as well. My first exposure to the Beastie Boys was seeing it tagged on the cement drainage system of Lake Village via black spray paint (you can thank Greg Smith, I believe).

The first rap group I was into was Whodini back in 1984. Who, from that era, can forget tracks such as, Freaks Come Out at Night and Friends? Those were the def tracks back in the day. Some of my other favorites from the old school were N.W.A., Public Enemy, and The D.O.C.

After all is said, I want you to know that I am not stuck in the old school! I can appreciate the latest hip-hop artists of today just as much as any teenage hip-hop fan. I am down with Kanye West, Young Jeezy, and Chamillionaire.

Tahoe, Christmas, and The Burning Alpaca

"To obtain the air angels breathe, you must go to Tahoe." - Mark Twain

Today is my first day back in Dallas after one of the best Christmas vacations I have ever had. My two-week trip started off with an evening at the Atlantis Resort in Reno, Nevada. The next day I met up with my sister Charlotte, her husband Rick, and my niece Erin, at the Reno airport. Rick rented an Impala, a "sweet ride" (as the 40+ year old rental lady called it) and we drove into Tahoe and we stayed at the The Lodge at Kingsbury Crossing for a week. One of the coolest things about the timeshare was the lobby! The lobby had a huge fireplace with couches, an arcade with video games and pinball machines, a pool table, and the best white chocolate cookies ever (all-you-can-eat no less)!.

During our week in Tahoe, la familia' hit the slopes at the Heavenly ski resort. I took skiing and snowboarding lessons. There was some some snow, some rain, some overcast skies, and some sun during the week. The clarity of the water of Lake Tahoe is amazing, it seemed that boats and swimming ducks on the lake were floating in the air. Lake Tahoe rules!

We ate a billion calories at the local restaurants. My recommendation is any of the chow mein dishes at Mandarin Garden restaurant, they have the best noodles and tastiest dishes. After a week, we headed down to Sacramento (the only city I have ever actually hated) to catch a train to take us to Simi Valley, California. From there, my father picked us up to take us to his house in Thousand Oaks for Christmas.

After opening presents, my mother asked, "Did anyone want something for Christmas that they didn't get?" My answer, "Paris Hilton". In hopes that my wish may come true a little later Christmas Day, a Paris Hilton Prayer Shrine was erected in our family room. Fun times for the whole family!

After becoming inspired by seeing alpaca (a very soft cousin of the llama) items for sale in Tahoe. I also created a couple of alpaca statues during my vacation. I created a tall alpaca statue in Tahoe, as well as a smaller one at my father's house in Thousand Oaks, California. Please see the Various & Sundry section of my web site for images.

My last evening in California, the family gathered around my father's fire pit at 8:30 PM, set up strobe lights, dowsed the aluminum/cotton alpaca statue with lighter fluid, and set that baby ablaze! It was a symbol of the end of our winter adventure.

Click here to download the burning alpaca video. If you have a slower connection (e.g., 56k modem) you may have to right click, then Save As to your computer's harddrive.
I was really happy to be able to spend some time with my family and some of my friends. I didn't have enough time to see all of my friends while I was in California, I should have stayed another couple of days.

Dallas Art's District

Anyone with interest in sculpture should investigate the Arts District in Dallas. The more I see of Dallas, the more I realize how privileged I am to live here. I spent some serious time this weekend at the Trammell Crow European Sculpture Garden as well as The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art. Both of these locations are on the same city block. The impressive Nasher Sculpture Center is located on the adjacent block (North on Flora Street). The basis of the sculpture garden is seven major bronzes by Auguste Rodin, who is considered the father of modern sculpture. One of Rodin's most famous works, not at this location in Dallas, is The Thinker.

My favorite statue at the sculpture garden is the 15'3" Horse for Alvear Monument by Bourdelle. Impressive in size and beauty. Please see the Inspiration section of my web site for more images.

I am looking very forward to starting my Creative Sculpting class, starting on February 11th, at the Collin County Community College Preston Ridge Campus here in Frisco. The class lasts for seven weeks, and is held on Saturday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. I am going to use this class to really focus my attention on experimenting with the different types of materials that can be used to sculpt character-based statues. I am also excited with the thought of finishing the class proudly holding a few more finished pieces. The campus is less that a mile and a half from my house ( actually 1 and 2/10 miles). I can't wait to start!

I highly recommend that everyone rent or buy the startling documentary, the Architecture of Doom. It was available for rent at my local Hollywood video store. I wanted to share some screen captures from the movie of the enormous sculptures created by Josef Thorak and Arno Breker during the Nazi regime.

Visitors in 2005

O.K. what is the deal! On Saturday I was bragging about the 80 degree weather, now the low tonight is going to be 12 degrees! I guess my "Is this really December?" question was answered by mother nature today!

Today, I just wanted to say a quick thank you to my good friends Robin, Kevin, and Erik for visiting this year from California. Robin (the coolest woman on the planet) and I went on a great getaway trip to Arkansas in February. Erik is shown trying to tame the iron horse (a 2001 Suzuki SV650) in September. Kevin is shown helping me fix my Dragon's Lair II arcade game in November.

Precious Health

When we are in feeling well, don't we take our health for granted? This weekend I was doing so many cool and fun things. I was really enthusiastic and energized about life and then I got knocked out hard by the flu on Sunday evening. All of the energy that I had to put into interests and dreams was completely gone. This two-day flu experience was a good reminder to me...if you don't have your health, you don't have shit. Health must become our #1 priority since our body is the foundation that allows us to accomplish our goals and dreams!

Television and Movies

I do not have cable TV. If I had cable I would be caught up in all of these shows while my real life passes me by. I have things that I want to accomplish in my life. I have sculptures to work on, here people! Trust me, I would love to spend hours a day looking at Mila Kunis on That 70s show, but the problem is that I will end up becoming the ultimate couch potato! I have a problem with over watching and I will admit it ("know thyself")! I just have too much to do! Time is limited! However, I am a big movie buff and rent a lot of DVDs (Hollywood Video, VIP member, thank you very much) so I have control of the hours I spend watching The Tube.

I rented a DVD yesterday called The 6th Day, staring Arnold Schwartzenegger. I was blown away by number of the special effects (over 700 of them), especially since I never saw or heard anything about this movie that came out in 2000. The sets were incredible as well, very elaborate and detailed.

I wouldn't say that this was my favorite Schwartzenegger movie, but I was blown away by the quality of the special effects. The creativity is very inspiring! It makes me question what other movies are just waiting at the video store to be explored. Anyway, I wanted to share some screenshots of the RePet store that is located in the mall in the movie. I loved these large character statues, some of them are shown playing in the DNA chain. It is a dream of mine to create statues similar to these as a full-time job:

The Mustangs of Las Colinas

The sky was beautiful bright blue today and the temperature was over 80 degrees here in North Texas. Is this really December??? Today was a perfect day to take some pictures of the horse statues in Pioneer Square in Dallas and the Mustangs of Las Colinas in Irving. I was extremely impressed with the Mustang of Las Colinas Museum Exhibit. The museum guide, Mary Higbie, was extremely friendly and helpful. You can learn everything you need to know about the world's largest equestrian sculpture, and the sculptor Robert Glen, at this exhibit. Make sure to buy the book they have available about the history of the sculpture(around $20 for the softcover, $30 hardcover). The presentation movie is an impressive production that explains the making of the sculpture from concept to completion. The movie is hosted by the quite cute LeAnn Rimes. The presentation movie is also available for purchase on DVD in their giftstore for $30.
