Here are some photographs I have taken of various statues that have inspired me to work on my own sculpture projects. Going against my nature, I have placed the statues in no particular order. The unexpected experience often is the most rewarding. So please browse the entire page. Please contact me with any comments you may have. All photographs on this page taken by Eric Gunrud. Enjoy!

Pioneer
Plaza Glen Rose, Texas artist Robert Summers' sculptures of 70 longhorns and three cowboys capture the drama of an old-fashioned Texas cattle drive through a native landscape. Pioneer Plaza is one of the world's largest bronze monuments. w Anyone interested in sculpture should check out his official web site (by clicking the link of his name above). His site is excellent and goes into great detail about his sculpture process. Priceless information to those of you who are interested. |

The
Mustangs at Las Colinas The largest equestrian sculpture in the world, created by internationally acclaimed wildlife artist Robert Glen, features five mares, two colts, a dominant stallion and a young stallion galloping through a stream. Surrounded by the gleaming granite office buildings of Williams Square Plaza, the mustangs are a memorial to an evolving culture in the New World of North America. This modern-day equestrian sculpture was seven years in the making. Glen sculpted these mustangs one and a half times life size, making them the largest equestrian sculpture in the world. Stopping by the museum exhibit is a must! |

The Texas Sculpture Garden, Hall Office Park - Thanksgiving 2004 Located in Frisco, the Sculpture Garden is home to 37 different sculptures, each by a different Texas Artist. This alone is the largest private collection open to the public of contemporary art by living Texas artists. Overall, there are over 100 different pieces of art installed inside and around the different buildings comprising Hall Office Park. In 1996, Mr. Hall had a vision to create a superior office environment that blends architecture, landscape, technology and art, all designed for the people who work here. Frisco was a much smaller, rural town back in 1996, as opposed to now being one of the fastest growing cities in Texas. The office park officially opened in September of 2001. Central Park Large bronzed statues The park, built by a private developer and completed in 2000, honors the cattle drives on the Shawnee Trail that passed through the area that eventually became Frisco. Bronze statues of longhorns, horses and cowboys appear to charge across the top of a hill near two artificial artesian wells. |

Trammell Crow Companies
Headquarters The Trammel Crow Center European Sculpture Garden opened in 1985. Consisting of twenty master bronzes, the Trammel Crow Center European Sculpture Garden provides visitors with a summary history of late 19th- and early 30th century French sculpture that is the basis for all modern sculpture, both abstract and figurative. At it's heart are seven major bronzes by Auguste Rodin, considered to be the father of modern sculpture.

This is the most impressive statue,
in size, that I have seen to date. This massive horse statue was sculpted
by Emile Antoine Bourdelle between 1913-1917 in Paris.

The
Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art Located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas, the Crow Collection is a permanent set of galleries dedicated to the arts and cultures of China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia. The museum offers a serene setting for quiet reflection and learning. This fine collection of Asian art includes more than 300 paintings, sculptures and architectural items that have been part of the personal collection of real estate czar Trammell Crow and his wife for more than 30 years. Although originally acquired for personal enjoyment, many pieces in this vast collection are museum quality. Highlights include a 120-item exhibit from the Crows' 1,200 piece Chinese jade collection, the world's second-largest impeccable crystal ball (19th century Japanese), plus several Japanese paintings and antique Indian stone statues. Although some objects date from 3,500 B.C., most are less than 400 years old. |

Nasher
Sculpture Center In 2003, the Nasher Sculpture Center opened its doors, giving the public an opportunity to view Raymond and Patsy Nasher's 50-year-old collection. Masters like Matisse, Picasso, Miro, Giacometti and Moore have several pieces on display. Smaller, more intimate pieces stand alone in three spacious pavilions underneath barrel-vaulted, light-filtered glass ceilings. Monumental pieces extend almost seamlessly through glass doors into a lush, tree-lined garden area. The Center's lower level houses light-sensitive pieces. |

| I first found out about the Nasher Sculpture Center while waiting for my luggage at DFW airport from a flight from LAX. This back lit sign is/was located in the American Airline baggage claim area. | ![]() |
